Free Retrospective Tools for Scrum: Most Comprehensive List 2026
Looking for trustworthy free retrospective tools for Scrum? Then this article is for you, because here you’ll find the most comprehensive market overview of tools with which Scrum teams can confidently run free sprint retrospectives online in 2026. We’ve excluded all tools whose websites are no longer current in 2026 or whose free plan is only a limited-time trial period.
That was also the reason for this article, by the way: there are many lists of free retro tools online, but they are often outdated or refer to abandoned projects. One example is awesome-retrospective on GitHub.
The retrospective-tool landscape changes quickly. Some tools change their free plans, some disappear, others are newly added. That’s why we try to keep this list current and as complete as possible, but we may still miss individual tools or short-term price changes.
Which tools do we include in this list?
A tool is included in this list if it meets these criteria:
- Truly free: It offers a permanently free plan or a freely usable open-source version.
- Currently maintained: The minimum requirement here is that the website is current, maintained, and secure.
- Not generic software: The tool must be built specifically for retrospectives, agile team reflection, or Scrum retros.
- Trustworthiness: There should at least be an imprint stating who is behind the product.
All four criteria led to plenty of exclusions in our research. So it’s better to use this prequalified list of free retro tools than to manually qualify all the search results yourself again.
